カタログ落ちしてしまった「アブラハム・ダービー」の大苗を2年前の冬に地植えにしましたが、その後、エアコンの室外機を横に置くことになってしまいました。日当たりの良い場所なのでそのままにしていたのですが、やはり移植することにします。「アブラハム・ダービー」の特徴等はこちら（「アブラハム・ダービー」①）
エアコン室外機のすぐ横に植えられた「アブラハム・ダービー」です。「アブラハム・ダービー」を植えた後に、エアコンの室外機が設置されました。
2月下旬にもかかわらず花が咲いています。多くのイングリッシュローズ同様に「アブラハム・ダービー」も花もちが悪いのですが、気温が低いので何日も前に咲いた花がまだ残っています。
エアコンの室外機はこんなに近くに設置されています。
1年以上この状態で過ごしましたが、あまりにかわいそうなので「アブラハム・ダービー」を30センチほど横に移動することにします。
まず葉を取り去ります。
葉を全て取り去った後です。向かって右側の枝がエアコン室外機のせいで窮屈そうです。
細い枝がいっぱいです。あまりに細い枝は剪定していきます。
細い枝を取り除きました。株の後ろには立派な雑草があります。気付いてはいたのですが、手が届かず抜けませんでした。
スコップで株を掘り上げます。
隣に植えていた「ジギタリス」も掘り上げます。
葉が虫食い後だらけです。
掘り上げた株です。表面に「ディコンドラ」がびっしり生えています。この「ディコンドラ」は庭のグラウンドカバーにと植えたのですが、繁殖力が強く、土が柔らかくて養分の多いバラの根元に進出してくるのです。
熊手を使ってバラの根元の「ディコンドラ」を引き剥がします。
「ディコンドラ」と一緒に土が取れてしまい、「アブラハム・ダービー」の根が剥き出しになってしまいました。写真の左側がごそっと取れた「ディコンドラ」です。
後に開いた穴と雑草です。取られないのをいいことに大きく育っています。
雑草を抜き、地面を覆う「ディコンドラ」も熊手で取り除きます。
見にくいですが、地面をきれいにして新しい穴を掘りました。この後、穴の中に堆肥と有機肥料を入れ、株を植えて培養土を被せます。
使う堆肥はローズショップの「バラ専用馬ふん堆肥」、有機肥料は「花ごころ特選有機バラの肥料」です。
培養土はハニーミントの「バラの土」を使います。
まず堆肥と有機肥料を掘った穴に入れます。
その上から培養土を入れます。
土の上に株を置きます。
上からバラ用培養土を被せます。
庭の土を被せて終了です。
向かって左側にあるのもエアコンの室外機です。室外機と室外機の間の「アブラハム・ダービー」ですが、日当たりが良い場所なので、ここで頑張ってもらいたいと思います。
カタログ落ちしてもしばらくは販売されていたイングリッシュローズですが、バラの家ではもう売らないそうです。アブラハム・ダービーももう手に入らないかもしれません。大事に育てていかないと・・。「アブラハム・ダービー」地植え③に続きます。
